Dusky Crow

"A dusky crow
in the crook of a tree,
  looks for beetles, . . "

Cannily?

"Two doves somewhere,
  in all the leaves, sing."

A pair that grieves?

[In the world of man,
 Where should doves go?
To find a peace that stays?]

Bang!

The firecrackers explode.
Screams and shouts of children,
Happy, hungry.

The yell of cars in the road.

"These things don't disturb us,
Daily we face so many battles."

Tired of striving,
the weary typewriter,
at last may find its mind.

The Ravin' Present

I hear much raving on the ravens present,
One moment here, then not.
I hear their caws in old New Haven,
What a resonant presence they've got!
